Structured cabling (CAT5, CAT5e)
The backbone to every business- New installation and comprehensive testing
- Additional working carried out on existing sites
- Integration of structured cabling and electrical installation
- Wire once, therefore reducing additional engineering visits
- Easy relocation of personal and equipment in the future
As technology marches on and many things change within the computer (IT) and telephony sector, one product / service remains the backbone to their effective implementation; the cabling system they are connected too.
Structured ‘CAT5 / CAT5e’ cabling is a term used to describe a standard system for the individual, but common connection (via RJ45 sockets) of voice and data devices, typically; IT data equipment (PC, printers etc) and telephone voice equipment (telephones, fax etc). However other applications can also be supported, like closed circuit TV systems for example.
CAT5 (later upgraded to CAT5e) has been the standard form of structured cabling solutions for a number of years now and we think this will be the case for many years to come. Especially for the vast majority of business users not wishing to utilise super high speed networks as probably used in high end graphic, CAD applications. Beware of being sold CAT6 or equivalent, as such installations may well require a purpose designed building to allow for its correct installation, as cable runs have to be correctly managed and containment is often bespoke.
Avalon Telecom offer a complete in house installation, comprehensive testing and commissioning service for CAT5e structured cabling, whether purchasing a new telephone system from us or not.If you are located in our serviced area and require advice or quotation for CAT5 structured cabling, then why not call today or contact us now

DEFINITION: RJ45 is the name for the eight-pin modular connector that is now largely standard for voice and data (telephones and IT) connections. The actual connector is described in ISO standard 8877.
